Training

All trainings will be held at Ionia County Community Mental Health (ICCMH) at 375 Apple Tree Drive in Ionia unless otherwise noted. The trainings that are provided at ICCMH are free of charge unless specified differently in the description of the training. Recipient Rights

This  training  provides information on the essential rights of recipients of community mental health services, including abuse and neglect;   confidentiality; informed consent; respect and dignity; restraint; seclusion;   and incident-report writing.

Basic Health and Medications

Learn the basics of health as it pertains   to mental health, including vital signs,   medical emergencies, and infection   control, as well as the proper   techniques   to reduce errors in taking   medication, knowing the different types   of medications, and the five rights. Post   test. Two-day class.

Environmental Emergencies

Learn how to prevent crisis situations and manage those that arise. This training focuses on the responsibilities of maintaining a safe environment for people living in a community residential setting.

Learn how to protect yourself against diseases that can be transmitted through the air, blood, and other routes. Free references to take home.

Nutrition and Food Services

Learn the fundamentals of human nutrition, including basic nutrition, how to implement good nutrition, and related issues, such as food safety, shopping and safe food storage.

Introduction to Community Residential Services: Role of the Direct-Care Staff

This introductory class gives an overview of the history and future of residential services for persons with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. Review of the responsibilities and role of the direct care worker included.

Person Centered Planning

Participants will gain a clear understanding of person-centered planning and how to use it to assist consumers in attaining their goals.

ICCMH Psychiatrist Dr. Ronald VanValkenburg presents one hour lectures on various mental health-related topics.

Cultural Diversity

This training offers participants an opportunity to become familiar with the basic concepts of cultural diversity and cultural competency.

CPR/Safety & First Aid

Includes adult, child & infant CPR as well as basic first aid training. Class size is limited to 8-20 participants. $15 per session if paid prior to the training; $25 per session if paid the day of (or after) the training.
